A commemoration of the role of the railways in the First World War, featuring:
- The recreation of a French station in the Transfer Shed populated by members of the Great War Society and featuring an ambulance train, displaying 5322, the steam engine that served on the Western Front between 1917 and 1919
- A military camp display with members of the Great War Society providing first-person learning sessions to demonstrate the many and various skills which a soldier would have had to acquire to enable him to do his job, as well as the realities of everyday life
- A â??WWI Trailâ?? to encourage visitors to discover various WWI-related exhibits in the Societyâ??s collection, along with their history, such as the real-life story of three nurses who served in our currently unrestored
WWI ambulance coach
- Access to WWI exhibits not normally available to the public, such as the articulated â??Pollenâ?? wagons, designed for carrying naval gun barrels.
